Steven and Katie
The start of March saw me photographing Steven and Katies wedding at Middleton Lodge. I think I’ll have to be known as a Yorkshire wedding photographer from now on, I have covered quite a few weddings on the other side of the pennines 🙂
Middleton Lodge is a lovely wedding venue. As Steven, Katie and the majority of the guests stayed over the night before, I had the chance to document everybody preparing for the big day, something that is often not possible.
The day started overcast and foggy, but as the wedding ceremony approached, the clouds broke and the fog lifted – Yorkshire sunshine at the beginning of the year!
I had met Steven and Katie over Skype, as they both live in London, but they kindly visited me in Manchester at the start of the year, and we had an urban pre wedding shoot – on the back of this, I was really looking forward to documenting their wedding. It was a great day, with lots of emotion, and lots of fun. They also had the BEST 1st dance song ever 🙂
Some of my favourite documentary wedding shots are below. A video slideshow from the day can be found on my facebook page, and guests can view all the photos in their gallery. Finally, some very kind words from Katie…
“Fresh tears came to my eyes upon first viewing these photos (although you may not be shocked by this admission since, as your photos all too well document, I was rather more emotional than I thought I’d be!). I still can’t understand how one person (and I mean this in the kindest possible way) can be in the background, at the same time as being everywhere – and at every significant moment. You were as unobtrusive as we could wish for, and practically invisible throughout the whole day, yet you still managed to capture some of the most intimate and revealing moments of our wedding day… moments which, given how quickly the whole all passes by, I had perhaps glossed over at the time. All those little reminders you managed to capture allow us to re-live the day in a way I hadn’t dreamed we would be able to, so thank you”
