Belle Epoque Wedding : Sophie + Rav
“Words can’t express how wonderful you were yesterday. It didn’t feel as though you were our photographer but a guest.”
When I first met Sophie and Rav, it was clear they were planning to have an extremely fun wedding party at Belle Epoque. Chatting about their day, we discussed how letting it flow, capturing the small details and even the imperfect moments were the most important aspects of wedding photography. As you can imagine, I was very excited to capture the day as this clearly complemented my style and gave me free reign to add the humorous shots I enjoy.
Weddings can be dictated by traditions, magazines and blogs saying how things should be done. Sophie and Rav walk their own line, and all aspects of their day clearly demonstrated their sense of fun and desire to include everyone and everything important to them. Mum walked Sophie down the aisle, the ladies were very much a part of the speeches in addition to the guys, and an amazing 80’s rock party completed the celebrations.
It was a day with surprises throughout, the first one being the bridal entrance song. Rav stood at the front at the Belle Epoque, nervous anticipation on his face. Suddenly the music for Sophie began, the famous Manchester city anthem “blue moon” (Sophie is a huge City fan) filled the room and the anticipation turned into huge laughter for Rav (a liverpool fan!), and this continued throughout the day.
In the evening Sophie & Rav danced down Knutsford high street with two Indian Dhol drummers in tow. Letting everyone know some serious partying was about to begin. Everyone went crazy, I felt like I was at a gig! Then, the final surprise of the day. When younger, Sophie created a dance routine to Paul Simon’s “Me and Julio Down by the School Yard”. Secretly Rav had shared this dance routine with all the guests. As Deckheds (the most awesome of DJ’s by the way!) got the record spinning, a flash mob suddenly sprung into action. You should have seen the shock on Sophie’s face. You can actually, below, along with some more of my favourite images from this awesome Belle Epoque wedding 😉
“Amazing from start to finish! Was so much fun looking through everything you captured from our day. Thank you so much for using your brilliant eye at our wedding!”
